Ozempic

Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide, a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is an injectable glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that helps the body produce more insulin when blood sugar is high, reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver, and slows down food emptying from the stomach.

This medication is prescribed for adults with type 2 diabetes to improve blood sugar control. It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications. Ozempic may also be prescribed to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
