Exosomes

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles, or small membrane-bound sacs, released by cells. They contain proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) from their parent cells and can transfer these contents to other cells. This transfer allows exosomes to play a role in intercellular communication, influencing the function of recipient cells.

These vesicles are involved in various physiological and pathological processes, including immune responses, tissue repair, and the spread of diseases like cancer. Due to their ability to carry biological cargo and interact with specific cells, exosomes are being investigated for their potential as biomarkers for disease diagnosis and as therapeutic delivery vehicles in medicine.
