Testosterone

Testosterone is a steroid hormone primarily secreted in the testes of males and, to a lesser extent, in the ovaries of females and the adrenal glands of both sexes. It plays a crucial role in the development of male reproductive tissues and secondary sexual characteristics, such as increased muscle and bone mass and the growth of body hair.

In both males and females, testosterone contributes to overall health and well-being, influencing libido, energy levels, mood, and bone density. It is used medically to treat conditions like hypogonadism in men, where the body does not produce enough testosterone, and in some cases, to manage gender dysphoria as part of hormone replacement therapy.
